Lesion Removal (“Shave biopsy” – no stitches)
Keep area dry until tomorrow
Keep the area clean with soap and water – PAT to dry
If using a bandage, change it daily
Apply Polysporin ointment for Vaseline DAILY for 1-2 weeks
Once daily with bandage change
OR twice daily if no bandage
Once healed, apply sunscreen to the area daily

Punch biopsy (with stitches)
Keep area dry until tomorrow
Keep the area clean with soap and water – PAT to dry
Apply a band-aid; change it daily
Apply Polysporin ointment or Vaseline daily with daily bandage change until stitch has been removed
Your doctor will instruct you on when your stitches need to be removed
Once healed, apply sunscreen daily

Electrocautery Treatments
Apply polysporin ointment or Vaseline daily
Lesions will fall off within 5 days to 2 weeks
Some lesions may need to be treated more than once; please contact our office to arrange for follow-up if you require further treatment
Once healed, apply sunscreen daily
