Dermatofibromas are common benign skin growths. They are primarily seen in adultsand are most common on the legs. They are slightly more common in women than in men.
Dermatofibromas are usually a firm nodule that is usually brown in colour, but may sometimes be tan or pink. They are usually between a few millimetres to one centimetre.
The exact cause of dermatofibromas is unknown. Some of these lesions seem to ariseat sites of previous trauma such as insect bites or ingrown hairs.
Dermatofibromas are completely benign and do not require treatment.
